Lake Lanier Docks

When looking at homes or lots for sale on Lake Lanier it is very important that you understand what type of dock the property currently has and also what type of docks are available for that property. Where your dock is located on the lake and how much space you have between docks will dictate some of that ( corps rules and regulations). Other than that there are many different variations of docks and we will give you examples of some below. All pictures are courtesy of Browns Bridge Dock Company.

Dock Types:

Platform: Has no slip but you can tie up boats and PWC's to all sides. Largest available is 14x14.

Single Slip Covered: One berth for either a boat or PWC's. You can have them covered, not covered or a covered with a party deck (see below). You can tie up an additional boat to the side and have two PWC ports attached as well. Largest available 32x32 but usually 28x24.

Single Slip Party Deck: One berth for either a boat or PWC's. You can have them covered, not covered or a covered with a party deck. You can tie up an additional boat to the side and have two PWC ports attached as well. Largest available 32x32 but usually 28x24.

Double Slip Covered: Two berths for either boats or PWC's or a combination of both. You can have them covered, not covered or a covered with a party deck (see below). You can tie up an additional boat to the side and have two PWC ports attached as well. Largest available is 32x32.

Double Slip Party Deck: Double Slip Covered: Two berths for either boats or PWC's or a combination of both. You can have them covered, not covered or a covered with a party deck. You can tie up an additional boat to the side and have two PWC ports attached as well. Largest available is 32x32.

Community: Usually for a subdivision and some actually deed the slip with a purchase of a home so you have ownership of your slip.

Courtesy: Usually a platform dock in a subdivision and is for parking your boat while you load and unload passengers and gear. Not used for mooring your boat for any length of time.

Boat House with Party Deck: An enclosed slip and they have them on Lake Lanier with even two and three slips. These are grandfathered so you can have this if you purchase a home that already has one but new permits are not given for these (see corps rules and regulations)
